English II

Welcome to tenth grade English. My name is Mrs. Prejean, and this is my first year teaching full time at Elkhart High School.  Our focus this school year will be developing skills as critical thinkers, readers, writers, speakers, and listeners.  The development and mastery of these important literary skills is not only important to achieving success in the Language Arts classroom, but is also a critical component of achieving success in other school subjects, building strong relationships with others, and attaining a flourishing career as an adult.  Basically, the quality of life you experience now through adulthood will depend a great deal on how well you read, write, and communicate with others.

I am very excited about the things our class will be reading and learning this year. Some of the literary works we will study include Monster by Walter Dean Myers, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, various non-fiction pieces, and numerous short story and poetry selections. In addition to studying literature, we will be improving as writers through journaling, formal essays, and grammar/vocabulary lessons.

I look forward to a great partnership with you. GO ELKS!!

Class Rules:
