J. Wes Canaday Bio

 

I graduated from Palestine HS in 1993, Trinity Valley Community College in 1996 and the University of Texas at Tyler in 1999.  I am married to Jennifer Canaday and have 4 spectacular children;  Alana, Jonathan, Aaron and Cadence.  My family and I attend Evangelistic Temple in Palestine where my wife is on staff as the Children's Director and I play bass in the worship band.  We have a dog (Katie) and 11 cats (I don't know their names...and no, that isn't a typo!!).

 

While in HS, I earned TMEA All-State on tuba, as well as being named an Outstanding Performer at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.  I graduated with a degree in Music Performance (on saxophone on all things) from UT-Tyler and my main job description when I was hired at Elkhart was to be the percussion/drumline teacher.  My musical background is diverse, to say the least.

 

I have been teaching band at Elkhart ISD since 1998.  This was my first teaching gig and I love it here.
