I am married and have four children. My husband, Mr. Phelps, just retired from Elkhart Junior High as their sixth grade science teacher. Even though this is my first year to teach at Elkhart, I have taught math for eighteen years, from sixth grade through Algebra II. I am teaching Geometry this year and am very excited to start a new Geometry in Construction class partnering with Mr. Gibson, our Ag Teacher. This class will use mathematics to build wooden projects and buildings. It will demonstrate real world application for mathematics.
I try to live by example from Phillipians 2:3-4 - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility consider others better than yourself. Look not only at your own interests but the interest of others.
