My name is John Tidwell.
I am a new teacher at Elkhart ISD High School and I am teaching a new course called Independent Studies in Math (most students are Seniors), and a course that has been in our curriculum called Math Models (most students are Juniors). Both courses are aimed at better preparing the students to go out into the real world and be successful, whether that be college first or into a trade or a job.
I have taught in four Texas schools, including a STEM school, and a juvenile prison an I taught extension courses at Texas A&M for 11 years. Each of these assignments have helped me to become a better teacher, but there is always room for improvement. My Texas certification(s) are Math 6-12 and High School History. I am looking to helping every child in our school to be successful.
My conference time is period 5 (12:35 to 1:30) and I am also available before and after school and by phone. Call the High School Office (903-764-5161).
I am married and I have 3 children and 5 grandsons. We moved to Palestine in 2015 to be closer and of help to our youngest daughter. We both love this area, and I particularly like Elkhart schools.
