I am currently the librarian at Elkhart High School. I hold a Master's Degree from Sam Houston in Library Science and I have been an educator in the Elkhart school district since I started teaching middle school art in the fall of 2002 after having taught third grade in the Westwood school district. While teaching art for 10 years, I also taught advanced reading, ESL, and TAKS remediation and was also the head volleyball coach and assistant track coach for a time. I then taught English IV until I had the opportunity to become the librarian.
I enjoy being in the library because every single day presents me with something new which almost always involves discovery of some sort along with both students and teachers. I enjoy trying to find better, more innovative ways of learning so that we can stay abreast of the ever-changing world of educational technology in order to prepare our EHS students for both college and the workforce.
While visiting our district web page, please be sure to check in with the high school library page where I provide links to reviews of books I've read, trailers for young adult books currently on the New York Times best-seller list, and most importantly, links to the TxQuest database.
